The Directors feel that DSA can support a number of these small area Song Swaps which are beneficial to attaining crucial feedback for developing your works in progress and as Annie Benjamin pointed out, works best in small groups of 10 or less. If you live in a suburb and would like to host one in your area, please reply to the group and ask for interested attendees in your area. Three people make a group for peer review or interested co-writers. I know several people who have attended the Song Swap in the past have developed beneficial co-writing relationships.
Please email DSA or talk to a board member if you'd like to start one in your neighborhood.

NPR -- For some, it's an expression of faith. To others, it's an important element of culture. Whatever its significance, gospel music helped create the foundation for rock 'n' roll, as well as rhythm and blues. A new CD and DVD collection titled How Sweet It Was: The Sights and Sounds of Gospel's Golden Age has captured some of gospel's greatest moments. (Audio)
By Sarah Rodman -- "Lean on Me.'' "Ain't No Sunshine.'' "Lovely Day.'' "Use Me.'' "Just the Two of Us.'' There's a reason the producers of "Still Bill,'' (video trailer) an outstanding new documentary on soul singer Bill Withers, are employing the tagline "You Know the Music. Now Meet the Man.''
By Tamera Bennett -- A Judge in California District Court ruled that politician Chuck Devore's new lyrics to "The Boys of Summer" and "All She Wants to Do is Dance" are not a fair use under the Copyright Act. The judge held the new lyrics did not rise to the level required for parody, which is a defense to copyright infringement.
By Vernon Parker -- ASCAP Board Member Hal David was born on May 25, 1921, in the East New York section of Brooklyn. He grew up in an apartment above the family-owned kosher delicatessen shop and restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue. His parents, European immigrants, had originally settled on Manhattan's Lower East Side, where his father worked in a sweatshop before moving to Brooklyn. David helped out as a busboy in the family deli, played baseball and tennis and dreamed of becoming a great basketball player someday...
